Holly Ross, Owner, OTR/L, WSI, LTP, ATRC

Holly Ross is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with with a bachelors in science and a masters in occupational therapy. She currently speak two languages both English and French. She is learning ASL (currently at elementary level). Growing up in the state of Michigan, Holly has been in the field of aquatics for 12 years and taught over 3,000 students. With the relocation to the state of Colorado in 2018, Holly pursued her occupational therapy career in pediatrics & home health care. In February 2020, Holly founded Building Blocks OT, LLC to level up her services and provide the best for her clients. Now rebranded, CANOE services both outpatient occupational therapy needs and aquatic needs for children, teens, families, and young adults.

When Holly “clocks out” she loves spending time with husband, JR. They enjoy going to sporting events & being active. JR and Holly enjoy working out consistently at the gym, going hiking, and spending time with her fur baby Winnie. When she’s not working or being active, Holly enjoys watching TV and movies.

Holly’s Specialties

Feeding/Eating

Holly has spent extensive time with continuing education in the area of feeding and eating. With over 60 hours in continuing education both virtual and hands-on, she has made sure her continuing education includes a comprehensive background approach. Some of the certifications Holly holds include the Beckman Oral Motor Protocol & SOS Approach to Feeding.

Visual Deficits

Currently, Holly has over 15 contact hours in vision therapy and also trained under Mitchell Scheiman, OD, PhD, FCOVD. She is able to help you with visual screeners to figure out motor difficulties with eye movement and cognition related to eye movement. There are exercises, interventions, and adaptations that she can help you make so that you can do your daily activities with decreased strain, improve eye strength, and assistance in learning to use functional eye movements in everyday activities.

Aquatics

Holly has over 14 years experience in the field of aquatics, including lifeguarding, learn to swim courses, and specialty private lessons. Licensed and certified through American Red Cross, she has taught over 3,000 students from the ages of 2mo-65years. Now, with her additional occupational therapist status, she can not only teach you to swim but make you a specialized aqua therapy plan to suit you needs.

JR Calderon

Business Operations Manager

JR Calderon is a stable base to the CANOE team! He handles the day-to-day operations of CANOE and a variety of other tasks! He has a history of teaching and coaching youth and youth sports. He also has experience running business before along with management expertise. When JR “clocks out” he loves spending time with his wife, Holly. They enjoy going to sporting events & being active. JR and Holly enjoy working out consistently at the gym, going hiking, and their fur baby Winnie. JR was born and raised in Los Angeles so the Dodgers & Rams are high on the sports priority list!

Omar Suarez

Contractor Extraordinaire

Omar is another awesome team member for CANOE. He has been working with CANOE since 2022. He is great at getting lots of ods and ends business jobs done. He previous has taught swim lessons ages 2yrs-45yrs and coached masters swimming for a year during college. When Omar “clocks out” he loves spending time cooking, reading, being active, and learning new languages. He can usually can be found at red rocks on nice mornings, or at the gym helping others stay active.
